	<texte lg="fr"><![CDATA[Villandry, achevé vers 1536, est le dernier des grands Châteaux de la Loire qui furent bâtis à l’époque de la Renaissance dans le Val de Loire.

Villandry fut construit par un ministre des finances de François 1er, Jean le Breton, dont les armoiries figurent sur le galbe de la lucarne de gauche. Pour le compte de la Couronne, il avait surveillé et dirigé pendant de longues années la construction de Chambord auprès duquel il fit édifier une réplique "en miniature" de Villandry : Villesavin. Auparavant, il avait été ambassadeur à Rome, où il avait pu à loisir étudier l’art des jardins. Jean Le Breton, pour construire l’actuel château, avait fait raser une vieille forteresse du XIIe siècle dont il ne reste que les fondations et le donjon que l’on devine derrière la cour d’honneur.

Ses descendants conservèrent Villandry jusqu’en 1754, année où il devint propriété du marquis de Castellane, ambassadeur du Roi et issu d’une très illustre famille de la noblesse provençale. Ce dernier fit construire les dépendances de style et réaménagea l’intérieur du château en l’adaptant aux normes de confort du XVIIIe siècle, qui sont beaucoup plus proches des nôtres que celles de la Renaissance.]]></texte>

	<titre lg="en"><![CDATA[Castle of Villandry]]></titre>
	<texte lg="en"><![CDATA[Villandry was completed toward 1536 and was the last of the large chateau built in the Loire Valley during the Renaissance. 

Villandry was built by Jean le Breton, one of François I’s Finance Ministers, whose coat of arms can be seen on the gable of the left-hand dormer window. 
His most impressive achievement in this field was the construction of Chambord, that vast flight of regal fancy, which Le Breton supervised under the aegis of François I. While directing this project, he built for himself nearby a small replica of Villandry called Villesavin near the Chambord château. Le Breton had first been ambassador to Italy where he spent all his time studying the Italian Renaissance art of gardenning. In order to build the present château, Le Breton had razed an old 12th century castle , from which he had only kept the old tower that can be seen behind the main courtyard. 

Villandry stayed in le Breton’s family until 1754 and then became the property of the Marquis de Castellane, the King’s Ambassador who came from a very illustrious noble family from Provence. He built the Classical style outbuildings that you can see on either side of the front courtyard. He redesigned the interior of the chateau to meet the standards of comfort of the XVIIIth century which are much closer to those we know today than to those, which were applied during the Renaissance.
